| 内容简介（英文） | Ho Shao-chi, a native of Hunan, in calligraphy first studied the seal and clerical scripts and was influenced by the Yen Chen-ch'ing style throughout his career. In later years, he combined them with standard script to create a single style. This couplet was done at 57 and has the grandness and power of Yen's standard script. Ho's centered brushwork is slightly trembling to create lines soft yet tough, revealing his underlying study of seal and clerical scripts. The characters are relaxed and confident. The places where the brush stopped appear archaic while those where they connect lively and spirited. Thus, in the awkwardness is a sense of liveliness that attracts continuous viewing.
