| 内容简介（英文） | West Lake Wu Shu-chuan (1853-1930) Republican Period Wu Shu-chuan (late sobriquet Hsing-fen lao-jen) was a native of She-hsien, Anhwei. In painting, Wu followed the family style, and her landscape and bird-and-flower painting achieved considerable fame. A generous person, she often donated the proceeds from her paintings to public welfare. This work donated by Mr. Lin Tsung-i uses a window compositional format to depict West Lake at Hangchow, showing willows along a path in a breeze. In the foreground are skiffs on the lake, a pavilion, and a long bridge, while in the far distance is a pagoda among the green hills of a verdant spring. The landscape is done in hemp-fiber texture strokes and light layers of color wash. The tree trunks are in light ochre, and the brushwork pure and elegant. |
